Even MacBooks Get the Blues
The Zero-day exploit directed against the Safari Browser/MacBook Pro should be a good reminder that, as the oldest of the IT folks remind us -that there are reasons for data backup and disaster recovery that don’t go out of style. There are always enough bad guys for mischief or malice for hire to make life miserable for others.
Mac owners have some reason to be smug (although not as much reason as the marketing folks at Apple would have us believe) as far as vulnerabilities and malware susceptability are concerned. But ,as this exploit shows it’s not a 100% guarantee. With the growth in the Mac (until the recession struck) OSX boxes will become a more lucrative target. Only the more affluent consumers will be able to replace machines or afford the Apple products and they represent more attractive targets in the coming months.
Just like the famous bank robber Willie Sutton when asked “Why do you keep robbing banks ? said “That’s where the money is” .That’s why there are going to be more Mac malware attacks.
