Connectify.me Now with Windows 7

by Andrew McCaskey
Road Warrior Cloud

Connectify.me is a new service that is going to turn into a game changer. And it offers real value and is going to sell more Windows 7 laptops to business users than any ad campaign. If you are a mobile worker, you really can’t live without connectivity. My trusty Sprint EVDO Cradlepoint, the new Verizon MiFi a Boingo Wi-Fi account, a 3G data plan with Verizon Wireless or Internet tethering on your Blackberry – we all have our ways.

The main difference between tethering and a Cradlepoint or Mifi is that the MiFi creates an Internet connection for 3-5 users using cellular networks, and tethering allows only one. Connectify allows multiple users to piggyback off a single connection. Oh, and the MiFi and similar devices cost a bit – or a lot – to buy and maintain, but Connectify is free to install and run.

It’s a free download, and makes any Windows 7 computer into a WiFi hotspot. Windows 7 users have got to try this app. You never know when you’ll get to save the day by letting other users share your Internet connection.
On a decent Win7 Laptop, you might be the hit of the next meeting on the road.

Now if they could do the same with AC power.
