Twitter Removes all Doubt

Twitter has crossed the chasm.
Wall Street Journal’s article on Twitter earlier this week comes well co-ordinated with the release of the App from LinkedIn. And, there is further evidence of economic value, in that just like there are domain squatters, there are now reports of Twitter Squatters, grabbing desirable Twitter account names.
The app from LinkedIn is called Company Buzz. It looks like a Twitter stream agent that monitors the public stream for mentions of your company, and then displays that along with your LinkedIn listing. Add that to a conversation that we had today planning for Twitter based coordination of SDRNews on-site coverage of the CMS Expo in Denver, and it is easy to see how micro-blogging can be added to the communications and marketing mix of organizations of all sizes.
The WSJ also noted that the level of Twitter activity is also masked by the fact that a lot of traffic actually moves by SMS through the cellphone network. That’s actually a good sign, because the SMS demographic is increasingly unreachable through email but virtually always on SMS.
Imagine: A channel to employees, partners, prospects and customers that is always on. Use it wisely.
