When the Market Fails, Call the Regulators

    by Andrew McCaskey
The FCC has filed a Notice of Inquiry on a proposal to require the new Sirius-XM receivers (a result of the more than two year merger hearings) to also offer HD Radio.

Nothing like a technology that has been greeted by the consumer marketplace with a huge yawn receiving a boost from your favorite lobbyist-induced regulator.

For the past four years at CES, it’s always been a bit of a curiosity to wander by the HD radio booths, and try to find someone who has some interest in the products. Each year, we look for energy in this zone, and find little light and no heat.

Maybe all that you really need is the right K-Street representation, and those pesky customers will finally come into line.
