Home Networking Special and Gnomedex MindMap Links

If you would like to have an overview of the various discussions at Gnomedex, Chris Pirillo has just published the Mindmaps from the entire conference- along with both a Windows and Mac version of the file viewer. The Windows version is pretty hefty – around 20MB, but it provides a quick way to look at the Mindjet maps that were used to document the proceedings.

As a followup from yesterday – the Network Magic package has installed smoothly on several machines -and it just points out how much time can be easily consumed keeping several machines online and in running shape. Some help with the various Windows boxes is really appreciated – if just for the reminder to check updates on virus protection, system patches and so forth. Still have not achieved the primary goal – dependable printer sharing throughout the house on various network segments. As I mentioned yesterday they have a premium offer of 15% off through July 7th for the five PC package annual subscription, a net of around $35.
If I can save $35 worth of aggravation in a year, I come out ahead.

The Inbox Zero practice sure came in handy after almost a week offline. Two hundred thirty messages hit the inbox this morning – and this is , I might remind you after the company spam filters has removed the usual assortment of medical news, Nigerian princes and stock tips. The harvest of actionable email was around twenty with less than half of that requiring other than a quick response within the two minute rule. Inbox Zero is well worth the effort.
