The folks over at Woot! have a great copy writer who can take the most -shall we say- “unusual” item and make it attractive. Today’s special is a refurbished router package 802.11g and two USB adapters for $50 – but their ad talks about things that occur in threes-

Like poison ivy leaves, celebrity deaths, and installments of the “Fast and Furious” – yes there is another one set in Tokyo. Or on a more positive note, things of three – as in Stooges.

That set me to thinking about this past week -

Let us say that I will return with fresh insight into the importance of backup microphones when podcasting on the road. Actually I do have backup – just didn’t work – or else we might say that my standards have moved up a few notches since the earliest days of the podcast. This is actually an expensive unit, with active noise cancellation – and in the conversations with the tech support it looks like it will be on the way back for repair or exchange. Thanks to listener’s who have tolerated the real-time test.

Items two and three – rapidly upon one another have been some glitches in the bittorrent feed and some problems in the Listen Now Flash based player that gets embedded on the site and in the daily email from Feedblitz.

That’s one reason why we try to maintain a variety of distribution methods for the podcast.

I appreciate the audience that rolls with the punches. I’m headed back to Indiana tomorrow, and maybe I’ll take time to think about all that has gone right this week, technically.

I’m not quite as eloquent as the copywriter from Woot! who kicks in the hyperbole drive: “a thunderclap of superfast wireless networking. Fifty-four miraculous megabits of data per second will zip through the air from the router… and you can use the four wired ports to add even more devices to your growing network family !”

But I still think this whole podcasting thing is pretty cool.

    Have a good weekend !
