In the next day or so, we will have the entire video posted from the TechPodcasts Roundtable that was held Saturday April 29th. I think that this is going to be a classic – and if you were not able to join us this past Saturday for the live performance, I know that you will want to make a mental note today to pull that file down in the next few days and move through the material.

Allison Sheridan of Nosillacast got the session started with a great demo of the Parallels Workstation software - now available in Beta for around $40, that permits you to run simultaneous XP, Linux, WindowsNT, Solaris, as virtual machines on an Intel based Mac running OSX. This software has been available for just a few weeks, and I think you will find it to be an exceptionally interesting segment, even if you do not own an Intel Mac system.

Mark Bradley, of the Australian podcast Antipodean Podcast had most of us running for the FireFox tabs pulling up Froogle searches for the podcast production goodies
that he uses to create mobile podcasts under all sorts of conditions, particularly conferences. He pointed out several affordable microphones and recorders to make the job easier.

Then Red-Mercury President Scott Corley gave a session on some of the ground rules that a developer must follow when porting a game application from the Windows XP environment to the U3 environment. The big take away there was – if you have a well behaved Windows app and don’t scatter things all over the host system, you need to edit one environment variable in your code and check for its presence before you launch. And, most importantly, Scott volunteered his coaching help to anyone who was trying to port an application to the U3 environment.

That’s going to be a great encouragement to some of those who are working on the TPN/U3 developer’s contest – with a total of 4850 in cash prizes to developers who download the Developer’s Kit, register at contests@techpodcasts.com and submit their applicaiton to U3.

Don’t forget that you can get Slashdotreview by email, with a built in flash player, arriving in your email inbox each day. Just sign up for the free FeedBlitz service in the box at the bottom of each day’s posting. Plus you can then forward that email, and introduce someone new to podcasting to SDR – without having to explain a thing.
