Thanks to Curtis Stinson for his continued underwriting support for SDR.
Here is the resource for all things Web2.0 .
The tip of the iceberg has been our subject for the past two days, and in following some of the links and RSS feeds that come standard with my free account at Netvibes.com, I’ve become aware of Techcrunch.com, and their outstanding list of Companies and Products . Over five hundred in the list, all in OPML form. This is the sort of geekly candy store that can keep you occupied for hours - so I’ll describe just a few of the goodies. Some are familiar: digg, delicious, Ajaxwrite, Ajaxsketch, 37 signals, 30 boxes, and a lot are new.
One that caught my attention earlier today was click.tv - From Techcrunch ” It hasn’t launched yet, but it does have a good demo site up that shows what the main functionality will include: the ability for the creator and those who watch the video to add annotations anywhere in the stream, and others later to click on those annotations and jump right to that point in the video.”
The idea is called “deep tagging”. The demo is a video of the most recent State of the Union address. Click on the video, and a row of lines, much like the lines on sheet music appear, along with dots. Click on the dot, and the video moves to the point in the speech that the poster wishes to challenge, comment upon, or support. The article continues “Macromedia, by the way, is a major source of the creativity. Just about everyone is transcoding to Flash to show the videos to users, and the new Flash tools are allowing developers to do really interesting things with video, like deep tagging and annotations.”
Novel at the least, and disruptive, in that in a social site with open commenting – wiki style – some honest feedback will be forthcoming.
Speaking of forthcoming: On another topic and story, I imagine that the lead item tonight on Phillips technology to force viewing of ads unless the viewer coughs up an additional fee might have some unintended consequences as well. And honest and direct feedback. Arriving rapidly.
Don’t forget that you can get Slashdotreview by email, with a built in flash player, arriving in your email inbox each day. Plus you can then forward that email, and introduce someone new to podcasting to SDR – without having to explain a thing.
