Doppler fans should be back online with SDR, thanks to some deep investigation and fast work from Podtrac:
Here’s some details from Robert Freeland, CTO of Podtrac:
“I’m pleased to report that the Doppler problem is fully resolved.
It turns out that Doppler is smarter than most podcatcher clients about how it downloads files. Instead of just grabbing a specified file, it issues a HEAD call first and compares the header information to its download history to see if the file has already been retrieved. This enables Doppler both to avoid redundant downloads, and to resume downloads that were previously interrupted.
. . . I think that Doppler’s approach is pretty forward-thinking, so I’m glad we can accomodate it.”
Thanks again to the folks at Podtrac – who are working hard to keep their service compatible with scores of podcatcher clients.
