The culprit that had kept our audio feed from working has been identified and promptly corrected (finally). There is nothing like a long romp through the fields of RSS to find how the plugin for WordPress has been mis-configured – just enough to block the past five episodes not from being published here, but to make it just about impossible for the download to occur. Only the geekliest of our listeners were able to take a close look at the code, see the errors, correct them and then download by hand.

That’s real dedication.. and such heroic efforts should not be required.

The player on this page and at the second site now work – and hopefully overnight the podcatchers will pull the correct information and regenerate the feed.

We are still not happy with the video version of the show – Too many projects on the fire right now, along with a major effort to convert the site at SDRNews from Joomla to a modern WordPress installation, which is much more suitable for podcasting and delivery of digital media.

Thanks for your patience as we get the site and content running again.

Best laid plans get derailed by progress – this week being spent in Las Vegas, as part of RVNN.TV responsibility – had originally intended to launch this week, but events overtook, and not able to get things lined up.

If you are just joining in – SDRNews is back on the air – with a couple of these informal audio only versions, getting ready for the audio and video to come next week.
Fitting that the first official show will be October 12, 2011 – seven years after the first SDRNews Slashdotreview.

Twice per week, generally released Wednesday and Friday..

Well next week you will be among the first to hear – and see something that has never before been done on the Tech Podcast Network. I can guarantee that you are going to like it.
What’s going to be the same ? Pretty much the same style that I think was a big part of the original show:

1. Time limited to ten minutes

2. Highlights from recent stories from Slashdot, Digg and Reddit and other sources

3. Promptly posted on audio

4. Commercial – got to make a living but won’t abuse. Don’t want NPR model of no commercials and then

5. Free version – Although there may be an extended subscription or topical edition

What’s Going to be Different

Of course, all saddened by the death of Steve Jobs. By all, I mean not just the tech world – or the world of Apple Owners – fanboys or outright fanatics. Not just business people. Not just Americans. Just as we are all better in some small way because of Steve Jobs, we are in another way reduced. We should all be so lucky that in a hundred years that someone who is not a blood relative remembers our name. Steve Jobs legacy is going to last a lot longer than that.

If you are just joining in -- SDRNews is back on the air - with a couple of these informal audio only versions, getting ready for the audio and video to come next week.
Fitting that the first official show will be October 12, 2011 - seven years after the first SDRNews Slashdotreview.

Twice per week, generally released Wednesday and Friday..

Well next week you will be among the first to hear - and see something that has never before been done on the Tech Podcast Network. I can guarantee that you are going to like it.
What's going to be the same ? Pretty much the same style that I think was a big part of the original show:

1. Time limited to ten minutes

2. Highlights from recent stories from Slashdot, Digg and Reddit and other sources

3. Promptly posted on audio

4. Commercial - got to make a living but won't abuse. Don't want NPR model of no commercials and then

5. Free version - Although there may be an extended subscription or topical edition

What's Going to be Different

1. Two times per week. Can't physically do daily with other obligations.

2. Informal, personal style

3. Video

4. Something totally new for Tech Podcast Network

The second week of field coverage –

Last week we were at the HP Networking Tech Day in Roseville, CA – and this week, we are at VMWorld in San Francisco. Gathering lots of material on videotape, interviews and planning.

It may appear that SDRNews is dormant or podfaded, but nothing could be further than the truth. In fact, in our six year history there has never been a more exciting period of growth and investment in major upgrades to the studio, network, personnel and facilities.

First, SDRNews.com is being developed as the anchor site for several in-depth channels. SDRNews.tv will air almost all of the material that we develop in rough form, much of it live streaming.

LunchAndLearn.tv is the channel for finished short form content that will introduce a variety of technical subjects.

Expert-Media.tv will have in depth tutorial content by category that will allow development of a topic in detail.

SlashdotReview.com will continue as an audio only version of the shows.

This is only a part of the over all Review Communications path that will include additional content in other subject areas, with planned air dates in October, 2010.

Last week we were at the HP Networking Tech Day in Roseville, CA - and this week, we are at VMWorld in San Francisco.

This is only a part of the over all Review Communications path that will include additional content in other subject areas, with planned air dates in October, 2010.</itunes:summary>
