      by Andrew McCaskey

More info today on the 31Days of the Dragon, sponsored by Buzz Corps and HP.

The 31 Days of the Dragon is a promotion between 31 participating web sites, with the sponsorship of HP. HP is working with those websites offering 31 prize packages – one a day for 31 days during a period from 09 May through 08 June 2008.

HP and their PR firm did a blind random drawing of the 31 sites, and assigned each of us a specific day that the system must be given away.

Each of the 31 sites will have seven days to conduct a contest for their listeners or readers prior to the giveaway date for that site. Some are podcasts, some are blogs. Each has their own rules and a separate donation date. I will be announcing the sites in order and give you as much heads up info as I can

Right now, I want to give you an immediate heads up on the first three blogs that you need to visit and enter to win. The SDRNews contest and give away will be in the second half of May – but there will be other sites that are doing their contest and give away both before and after SDRNews. Our assigned contest date begins

Today, you need to go to the following three sites and look for their contest and promotion page.

The first site is AbsoluteVista.com http://absolutevista.com/blogs/absolutevista/
Their contest begins May 2nd and their system winner will be announced May 9. This is the advocacy site for Vista in Small Medium Business, 100% Microsoft all the way and when they get Linux (or OSX) in their crosshairs they pull the trigger, and set off a grenade or two for good measure. Entertaining counterpoint to a lot of blog and podcast biases, mine included.

Ars Technica is the second Site of the Dragon. Their contest begins May 3 and their system winner will be announced May 10. Frequently cited on this podcast – and once again I am really honored to be included in the same group. You are going to have to hunt – I do not see any contest announcement on their list yet.

OSNN.com is a news site with forums broken into sections including Vista, OSNN mobile news, and a section about Folding at Home – the distributed computing project. Their contest will start May 4 and award on May 11.

Each day I will be reminding you where you need to be heading to sign up for the seven day contest period for that system.

I signed the contract today, and I should have the unit here in a few days – and then I can go to some of the unboxing of the actual unit that I will have a chance to play with until the day our contest begins May 19 and the actual giveaway May 26. Then, I pack it up and ship it to the lucky winner who will be announced that day. I’ll also be providing a lot more details on the HP Dragon system, as well as products from Microsoft and others that will be included. It’s going to be a LOT of fun. As they say, tell your friends, enter often.

This contest is not restricted to entries from North America, It is open to any listener or blog reader, worldwide.
