Intro To Siri

Robert Scoble’s column – if you missed it – is the subject of the video for today..

Siri is not a website. It’s an application you put on your phone (today iPhone, soon others like Android and Blackberry). Secondly, it isn’t a search engine. It instead marries the Nuance speech to text service with algorithms from a number of APIs from other services like Flight Stats, Open Table, movie databases, restaurant services. Stir in a mix of location information and it all of a sudden allows realtime voice searches to questions like ” Where can I see Avatar in 3D Saturday night within 20 miles.”

As we move towards appliance like operation on the iPod and soon to be iPad – Siri is going to be a welcome companion.
