      Multi-tasking Age

      by Andrew McCaskey
      The article should surprise no-one.
Multi-tasking is in fact different from tightly scheduled focused tasks and making effective use of downtime.

The demon seems to be not the fact that multiple tasks are occurring – perhaps in a waiting mode or rendering time – but that the attention is divided between tasks.

That’s why I am trying , really trying to like Twitter, Friendfeed, and Pownce.

That’s why I keep them turned off – as I find that my tolerance is very, very low for interruption with trivia.

I certainly see value in certain venues or situations – and I will certainly have Twitter engaged for CES coverage this coming year.

But for the moment, it is at arms length.
