Joke to Reality in a Year

It was just a year ago that there was an April Fool’s article that talked about wiring up a city by flushing a rubber ball with fiber attached down the toilet.
It turns out that there are over 300,000 miles of sewer in the UK that will be used for exactly that – offering fiber to the home deployed with minimal environmental impact and with speeds exceeding any other ISP in the UK.
Just goes to show that there’s always some truth in any good April Fool’s Day prank – and that the company H2O Systems might be laughing on the way to the bank.
