      Big Solar Makes Sense

      by Andrew McCaskey
The article on Big Solar in Salon magazine offers a lot of good information and good sense.

The idea is to use solar energy concentrated by mirrors to heat a working fluid, then generate electricity during daytime periods of highest use.

With costs approaching 10 cents/kwh and construction times of less than three years with little or no licensing hassle – it beats nuclear and any form of coal that contains greenhouse gas emission.

The next administration has the opportunity of our lifetime to make this happen.

Might as spend some money in deserts close to home and get some benefit from it – instead of spending trillions of dollars in deserts elsewhere, with not much to show.
