      Internet Black Holes

      by Andrew McCaskey
I love it when a plan comes together and when a news item provides a solution to a problem that we have been facing for the past month.

      Or at least an explaination.

The University of Washington’s Hubble project searches for internet black holes – where packets along well published routes disappear for some reason, never to be seen again.

Paths to Slashdotreview.com and other sites hosted on the machine are ” more than 90% available” which is a lot better than some, but I certainly hope are substantially more than that.

It’s as good an explaination as any.

And the reprovisioning is going on now, with a DNS refresh to begin around noon Friday, after most listeners will have their download for the day, allowing all day Saturday and Sunday to propogate.
