Off to the Show

Two videos today – to give you an idea of some of the logistic prep for the CES coverage for TPN.
I made another trip to BestBuy to make sure that we had the best “belt and suspenders” approach to data storage. The new WD MyBook Firewire 320GB drive gave a hiccup that was just enough to be a worry. It just looked dead, and I was scrambling for receipts when I realized that Time Machine had put a copy of data onto the drive that would go back to the return pile. I was not happy with that.. and then one more reboot of everything put it back into action. Not sure if it was a power line hit, a cable pull (which was possible) or just plain bad luck.
Any way, BestBuy had the unit on sale for $124.95 – so a sealed unit is in my bag along with receipts. If I’m lucky, I won’t have to break the seal. If luck in Las Vegas runs cold, I’ll have a backup.
Flight tomorow morning, it will be late in the evening before I get settled in – but keep watching here at SDR and also on blip.tv for the latest.
