Microwave Power from Space – Again
New item today on the latest booster of vast solar arrays in space, and the proverbial microwave link to bring the power to earth.
I have always been fascinated with this recurring story – similar in some cases to the 100 mile per gallon carburetor barbershop tale of my youth.
Latest sponsor, according to the Aviation and Space Week report, is the Department of Defense.
With your tax dollars at work, the power collected by these space based solar arrays would be beamed down to what ever location the military might require.
It’s an attractive prospect: Get a team deployed to some remote terrorist ridden training camp – and you have the logistic nightmare of keeping them supplied with food, fuel, water and ammunition. What if you could just move a space based array on station and beam down whatever energy that military force might require ? Using microwaves, or whatever. Then all you would have to worry about would be the water, food.
Probably won’t even need the ammo. The excess power can be used for the Tom Smith Electric Rifles. Just be careful and don’t step into the landing zone for the beam.
