Thanks to Ian Lacey for a detailed respnonse on why and how he listened to SDR News..
Ian noticed a detail on the del.icio.us tags – how I had stopped providing detailed tags a few weeks ago with some detaisl on the contents of the posts – and just autotagged with SDRNews and the episode date. Not terribly useful.
Ian had been using the tags to search other materials – a robot item tag would pull up other articles on robots tagged elsewhere in del.icio.us . It was an unintended consequence of change in production system – moving article screening to OSX, Net Newswire and program called Puka.
I am working towards being more conscious of timing of the day’s episode – but there is a lot left on the cutting floor. The process involves maybe 100 items each day – not all used – obviously and many are tagged that are not used.
So fire up Google Reader, NetNewsWire or whatever.. will see more than used on the air.

And, as promised, here’s Ian’s message on the Tooth and Nail puzzle:
“The method to this puzzle was explained this weekend on the pbs showthe woodwright shop. The block is cut out of (I believe he said basswood?) and the last tooth is placed in boiling water for ten minutes.
It is then immediately put in a vice and compressed, and left in thisposition for two days till dry. when removed from the vice you drill the hole and insert the nail in the two middle teeth. Then return the block to boiling water and it will return to its original shape.”
