Proof in the Pudding – More VoIP

Announcement of the Pudding is one more item of evidence that the world of VoIP is going to become more and more interesting.

As we discussed in the TPN Roundtable last Saturday, the new startup ooma (along with the distributed termination architecture that completes the local loop portion of the call) is one major destabilizer.

The ooma box has the business model that involves a one time, up front purchase. The Pudding model is advertising based.

But, here is where it gets creepy. The advertising is targeted based upon what you are talking about. That’s right, the line is monitored and then relevant ads are posted on the computer screen.

“Sometimes crazy things pop up. It actually enriches the conversation, which is very cool,” said Ariel Maislos, chief executive of Puddingmedia.

      I bet they do !
