Baby Boomers and Computers
It’s amazing how things have accelerated, at least from my point of view, and the Newsweek article this evening seems to confirm the observation.
As a fully qualified baby boomer, the article traced parts of the history of computers that I’ve lived for the past thirty years. It’s just when it is all put down into a single article that I begin to feel the impact.
Two minor incidents: For the past year I have been gradually replacing the various CRT’s in the house with flat panel monitors. The final swap out involves the replacement of our regular TV with a Vizio Plasma HDTV.
A day or two later, I realized that my future grandchildren will know only flat screens. The idea that television or computer screens were attached only to a large box will probably be greeted with laughter and incredulity.
If you are one of those pushing sixty – an official boomer, you will find the Newsweek article a good fun read.
