      Wiretap Grows Up

It was only a matter of time before what you may have suspected was in fact revealed – today’s items on the ability of the FBI to surreptitiously tap into mobile and VoIP phones.

In fact, the tapping was not only to listen to conversations, but to turn the telephone into an active bug – transmitting all of the conversations in the room or automobile. In the VoIP case, it was the best of all possible worlds, since there is no RF component, and the existance of the tap would not be detected in the normal sweep of the room.

If you are involved in the drug trade or perhaps have “family” connections that may be suspect, this should give you a hint: things may not always be as they seem.

It will be really interesting to see how this story moves through the blogosphere over the next few days.
