Back on Track
Nothing like a half dozen listener emails to start off the morning.
In fact, nothing like a few dozen emails from listeners reporting trouble – and we had some this morning. In addition to tripping into a Podtrac log-in that was asking for administrator priveleges, bailing out then proceeded to affect iTunes downloads.
I posted earlier today, and want to thank the additional listeners who sent in some reports to help narrow the time window to examine logs.
The Techpodcast Network media servers got a clean bill of health early in the morning – and as reports came in it looked like I was in some distinguished company, with podcasts like TWIT.tv also being affected.
By noon, the Podtrac folks had explained that it was all the result of a upgrade patch applied around 4:30AM – a time they figured would affect the smallest number of downloads.
It did not take long for the reports to start coming in, the corrective patch to be applied – but obviously long enough to cause disruption.
Apologies to all, and props to Podtrac for owning up to the problem and fixing it in record time.
