Transition of the Internet
A lightning strike and power line hit took out one of the flatscreen monitors and for almost a week (as I was traveling) the Family PC was out of commission. It’s right beside the kitchen table, the other end of the room being the TV and Family Room area.
You never know how much pervasive connectivity has become part of our lives – until it’s absent. My wife was definately not a happy camper when I returned from Gnomedex.
Her mood brightened considerably when we got back from the local Staples store this evening with a replacement HP flat screen monitor.
In this house, on a typical day this PC handles most of my wife’s non-business online needs.
Not much until you make the list:
Morning weather and school closing check
Quick Scan of CNN ( at least before it went to the new Light News / Happy format)
Overnight Email check
Various Email attachments
Recipe search (otherwise known as what’s in the Fridge / What’s for dinner)
EBay
EQ – Electronic Quilter CAD Program
Family Photos
Print Shop cards and posters for school.
You Tube Browsing
Banking
Shopping
Podcast player
Shoutcast
XM Radio player.
