      Marketing and Performance

The ISP measurement and packet traffic shaping does not surprise me too much. There seems to be considerable variation in the levels of service that I get from Comcast – and when I am at my daughter’s house in Avon, IN it verges on the close to dial-up mode.

Verizon’s policy of copper removal (after a customer signs up for FiOS fiber to the home) positions sounds like a combination of the pragmatic and a realization that it’s still a good idea to keep your eye on some over the air alternatives (WiMax probably a leading contender).

Still always a good idea to at least try and eliminate that single point of failure.
