Old News – CD, RIAA and the Music Business

It has been a staple of the tech news business for a number of years – the downloading/RIAA/Music Industry battles. And, it seems to have run it’s course.

Today’s stories from Fortune – showing CD sales declining in 2007 at rates approaching 20% and Rolling Stone – which details how the studios turned down a $1Billion offer from Napster, when their 50 or 60 million customers were the only game in town – are.. quaint.

I’m tired of the story and I expect that you are as well.

The move to legitimate downloads, the effect of Big Box stores like Best Buy and WalMart – and the music industry’s reaction that have seen lawsuits of ten of thousands of customers all add up to an industry that’s being passed by.

I think there are more interesting things to talk about.
