Hydrogen Economy : On the Way ?

Encouraging news – concerning the collaboration between VA Tech and the University of Georgia resulting in the use of starch – mirroring the activity at Purdue in hydrogen storing compounds that will allow the removal of pressurized gasses transport for hydrogen.

In the rush to move forward, there have to be multiple fronts of investigation – and lets hope that they are looking beyond the immediate thrill of success in one area, and considering the system level implications.

If the net cost of producing, transporting and deploying the starch is energy (or footprint) negative – those costs need to be honestly pulled in to the investigation.

Piecemeal investigation (and hope) is in no-one’s interest.
