      Vista Double Whammy

The items today that discuss a tacit admission by Microsoft of Vista’s market difficulties hold interest for geeks.

But probably not for most anyone else.

Within the past week or so, I have read that people who care about computers are moving in one of two directions: OSX or Linux. Those who don’t care about computers… don’t care.

Since at least WIndows 3.1, the majority of users have been trained to accept a level of performance and inconvenience – spyware, viruses, instability and confusion. Just as many buy Flat Panel Televisions, assume that they have HDTV but in fact are running well below the capability of the monitor – whatever problems emerge in Vista will hardly be noticed.
