      Speedup for Windows XP

A wonderfully handy list from Digg and MobilePedia

      http://www.mobile-pedia.com/?q=TechArticles/SpeedupWindowsXP

on ten easy speedup steps for Windows XP.

I am left wondering about what is sucking the life out of the various Windows XP boxes around the house and family members. I am suspecting that those mysterious ‘middle of the night’ reboots that are downloading and installing some improvement or patch are not only failing to clean up behind themselves but subtly changing XP into a system that requires more and more memory just to run. I find 256MB systems that used to be perfectly adequate for simple tasks like web surfing, email and media play bogging down, in the continual battle against malware. I find 512MB systems that throttle down at the slightest push in audio editing or encoding.

I have only one XP box with a GB of memory – ok for the moment, but I am wondering how long that is going to last.
