    Business Video

    by Andrew McCaskey
    Slashdot Review Podcast

MotionBox is much like YouTube 2.0

Here is part II of http://Motionbox.com- which we mentioned yesterday.

I was particularly impressed by the feature of deep tagging of clips – and think it will be very interesting in a “Video FAQ” system or in presales to emphasize a particular feature.

Imagine a business application on a product complex enough to have a 25 minute instructional video for set up and calibration. Presales, the customer could be sent a video clip answering a specific question or highlighting a feature – committing him to 20 seconds that specifically shows the answer to his question, but enclosing the larger video in case he’s curious about the rest of the product details. Tied with FAQ responses, it could offer a highly detailed experience at very low cost.

I keep the ProTools tutorial up from VTC.com – not deep tagged but maybe 40 chapters – just in time training aor refresher – a crude version of what MotionBox offers.

    Fonality Buys Trixbox

Voice 2.0 series last summer ?
Trixbox is the distribution for telephony on Linux today. . It combines Asterisk, MySQL, integrated into the SugarCRM solution.
LAMP of the IT Enterprise and Web Framework, (Linux, Apache, MySQL, Perl/PHP),
Trixbox is the LAMP stack of the Telephony market, Linux , Asterisk, MySQL, Perl/PHP.
This is a trillion dollar market, one in which Microsoft doesn’t have the technology to respond with.

    Live Audio
Doug Snell wrote in, and then later called with some comments. Here is his email:

I have to say I like most of the changes by far. I never listened to the music … but never worried in that I could skip it. Having a smaller podcast is nice – I actually don’t use an iPod at all (Dell Axim x50v with a program called HubDog).

I really liked the old format’s “story at a time” format, I’m not sure if you’ve done anything intentionally or not, but it seems like it’s harder to identify where a story ends and stops – the new format seems to run together a bit more. Maybe it just takes some getting accustomed to … it’s too soon to tell.

Overall, the podcast sounds a little less “formal”, and a bit more personal. Before it was extremely professional and I alwasy compared it to NPR. I don’t consider the change to a more informal show a bad thing … I kind of like it. Day after day you continue to put out a fantastic show, and I appreciate it. Please keep up the great work – you’ll have a long-time listener in me.

BTW, do you cull anything in your stories (or stories) from sites like digg (I heard you mention it the other day)? I know the podcast is SDR, but I’ve found digg often covers stuff /. doesn’t.

    -Doug

FWIW, I always enjoyed the “extra” show on a Monday (i.e. catching up from the 6th weekend show).

    Daily Show

Daily Show just as good as network news- Indiana Univ
