Thanks and a shout out this evening to Tony Steidler-Dennison of the RoadHouse Podcast - one of the oldest and most polished of the podcasts featuring musical entertainment. Tony has stuck out on some new ground in podcasting, offering a high fidelity version of his podcast, by subscription only – minus commercials. It is truly, “The Finest Blues You’ve Never Heard” .
Last Week’s TPN Roundtable recording is available at techpodcasts.com , including the PowerPoint series of slides on YouTube – with some background on the marketing and commercial impact of YouTube.
Today’s video up on the site today moves beyond YouTube. It’s a video about a company – Text 100 – and the business applications of Second Life.
If you are like me, you haven’t yet invested much time in beginning to look at the marketing and public relations aspects of Second Life. The company’s name is Text 100, and in collaboration with another company called Electric Sheep, they have opened an office in Second Life.
Still maintain a first life presence as well, I have linked the web site for that one . I don’t yet know how to link to a virtual URL in the Second Life domain.
I first had a chance to see the Second Life demo at Gnomedex this year – and I know that I am way, way behind. Eric Rice gave me some advance warning – that I needed prepare to fall off the grid in the real world for about three weeks, but that once I had made the transition, I would be able to understand what was going on. Beth Goza, formerly of Microsoft, is an evangelist for Linden Labs now, and there are a lot of podcasting celebrities, including the PodFather himself deep into the ownership of islands, virtual houses and businesses of all sorts.
Even the Wall Street Journal took note of virtual boutiques - and mentioned that they had the same problems with knock-offs and shoddy quality that some of the first life apparel manufacturers and designers had observed.
Please take time to have a look – I think that your curiosity might light up, and you will find yet another interesting way to consume those hours that used to be spent on Network Television, back in the days before cable modems that connect to the very same wire.
