Two new videos up today on the SDR YouTube site.

The first is from Brandon Watts.

His video concerns a service called ScanR, which I have mentioned before. ScanR surrounds the concept of those ubiquitous whiteboards in both corporate and educational settings. Merge that with the modern advances in camera phones, and you have a service that allows you to photograph a given whiteboard, send an email to ScanR with photo attached, and get a return email with a pdf version of the document. I missed out with the version of the Motorola Razr that I have – the camera resolution is too slow – but I can see that this would be very handy to document the latest brain storming session and get it promptly on its way.

You remember Brandon as the young man who developed the Leopard programming language while he was in High School. I had a chance to meet him at the Gnomedex conference a few months ago, and I see from his blog that life is moving on with a twentieth birthday and wedding plans in the the near future as well. He is a young man on the move, and was just selected to pitch ScanR at the 2006 Demo conference , You know that it’s *the* place for new companies to talk about what they’re doing and where they’re headed in the future. A very exclusive group of the best and the brightest are invited to participate, and since scanR is among them, that says a lot about the quality work that they’re doing.

The second video is from a programming celebrity, Andy Gutmans of Zend. He defines Web 2.0 and explains how it’s changing the face of the Internet. It is just enough to connect the whole series of buzzwords into something that starts to make some sense. The conclusion: if you have to have one characteristic of a language for Web 2.0, it better be easy to iterate – because it is going to change early and often.

We are going to be discussing some of the aspects of the YouTube group during the Techpodcast Roundtable this coming Saturday, September 23rd at 1:30PM Pacific, 4:30 Eastern. Todd Cochrane returns with a talk on a solution to fully integrate Land Line calls and Skypecast calls and a review of a terrific new Feed Aggregator for the Mac. Plus there will be several more TPN members and Affiliates to offer Highlights of this Week’s Tech News.

I think that you will find it worthwhile and fun to attend the live event. Details at Techpodcasts.com .
