I had no idea that there was so much video on the net. The tipping point isn’t here yet, but for technically minded viewers, it’s in sight. There’s an exciting subset of all this that is the subject of Citizen Media. It is the subject of the featured YouTube Video for today.

The experiment at YouTube.com/group/slashdotreview alerted me to the fact that there was a lot going on – most of it aimed at a much younger audience and some with subject matter that is better left unsaid. The past few weeks, there have been a number of very interesting bits of video submitted or produced by listeners. I hope that you will continue to recommend video and help keep that portion of SDR growing.

Lifehacker came through today with an article that I am sure you will want to track down.

It’s called Technophilia – Forget the TV and Watch the Web

Sixteen (count em) Portals for video.

YouTube is, of course the 600lb gorilla. Others like PBS Frontline, do not have a branding problem. What they do have, is a selection of Frontline that you may have missed. You can watch the BBC news from London online every day of the week, anytime; another way to find BBC online streaming or archived programs

Some of the most interesting sites that haven’t yet hit the bigtime. Here’s a select few:

ChannelChooser: A free online TV portal with hundreds of channels to choose from, all streaming.

wwITv.com: An ” independent guide to online streaming media available on the web.”

Democracy Internet TV: watch TV online via the free Democracy Internet TV viewing platform. Over 600 different channels available.

Choose and Watch: a free TV portal with hundreds of channels, including Fox News, ABC, Comedy Central, and much more.

Live Online TV: Hundreds of channels to choose from here.

Streamick: Nicely categorized into topics such as News, Sport, Entertainment, etc. This is live, streaming TV.

PeekVid: watch over 7000 shows online. Desperate Housewives here, as well as Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and X-Files.

SingingFish: You can use SingingFish to search for both video content AND audio; just take advantage of the filtering options.

Google Video: There’s a wealth of content here, from comedy to music videos to movie trailers.

    Yahoo! Video

    Lots to choose from.

Now combine that with the 8Gb/sec Gas Pipe Ultra Wideband RF into your home, and you have some interesting combinations.

No crazier than pulling pictures or music from the air.
