Too Much Juice

The Tech Team and listener Tom Westheimer are continuing to grapple with Too Much Juice. Some of you may know that Juice is a podcatcher that is used by many of our listeners. – and supports Linux, OS X and Windows XP. The first symptoms were not enough downloads. When we had a week or two where the www prefix was inadvertently disabled, it messed up some listeners who had typed in the direct mp3 Feed. That was too little Juice. The www was compounded by an error where a directory at Techpodcasts.com was pointing to the bittorrent feed , in other words interchanging the direct and BT feeds. Got that corrected. But the real mystery has begun this week. Just like the Walt Disney “Sorcerer’s Apprentice” with the multiplying broomsticks, the “Juice Cup Overflows” . Five days ago, Tom got 22 downloads in one morning – apparently from the mp3 and the bittorrents of previous shows. No download dysfunction there. But they just keep on coming.

Today’s SlashdotReview Video on YouTube- thanks to David R Gilson in Hull, UK – focuses on The Movie Piracy debate. It’s a seven minute BBC interview of MPAA’s Dan Glickman and John Perry Barlow, co-founder of the EFF. It’s a great example of content that expands some of the news stories that we feature each day. Offering highlights in a ten minute summary each day leaves a lot of great news stories and issues that I would like to dwell upon or that deserve in depth converage. You Tube allows a “heads Up” in the audio program and a chance, when you have some time for SDR listeners to get more info on the news item or comments by other listeners.
