The great video experiment- part II.
It’s been an interesting weekend, learning more about YouTube. If you are just tuning in, you’ll find that Friday we fired off an experiment on YouTube, setting up a group , and posting my first video.
First off, thanks to David R. Gilson, in the UK, who added in video demo of a Freeware Multimedia App called The Core Pocket Media Player. David sent it along as a player for the Palm OS 5 but, the site at about says that it is an open source media player for Windows CE and Windows Mobile based devices as well. I’ll paste the Flash player for David’s work into the page at SlashdotReview.com. (David – sorry for mis-pronouncing your name on the audio. Blame the bifocals).
Secondly, I realized that that this audio podcast is a great way to communicate a ‘heads up’ about videos that would be of interest to listeners – and that as a listener you don’t have to necessarily create a video, just recommend one that is already on YouTube so that we can add it to the group.
In that spirit, there are seven videos total on the site now. First, there is an interview with Mark Shuttleworth, of Ubuntu fame.. There’s a six minute comedian riff on life on an internet help desk. There are several demos of the Wicked Cool Lasers, and a two minute highly produced version of a promotion video from a surprising but well known name.

Incidentally, no problems, so far reported concerning the video on the podcatcher Tech Team -although it looks like the FeedBlitz service is stripping out the built in video Flash player. We will work on that this week, and still remember to put in the URL for interesting videos that get added to the site.
