New Shows and TechPodcast Roundtable Details
by Andrew McCaskey
Slashdot Review Podcast
You know that the Techpodcast Network is continually adding member shows. I want to take some time introduce some new members.and their shows – and point up some of the variety and depth that’s coming into the network.
Michael Paul is the producer and host for the pikeMall techCast.
Mike is a 29 year-old retail manager/college student working on a degree in computer programming. He has experience with Java, HTML, CSS, XHTML, significant knowledge of Windows, hardware and software knowledge at an intermediate to advanced level. The pikeMall techCast is the tech podcast for non-tech people. Each week, he covers a subject that people who are not geeks may not know much about, but could help them understand or use their computer in a more productive manner. His show features non-geek terminology, to make things easier to understand. This show is not made for geeks, but for people who just want to know a little more about technology and how it works and how they can apply it to their lives.
The pikeMall techCast is produced weekly, published each Monday.
In contrast, another new member podcast is from the world of Electronic Design Automation. Jon Atwood’s On Design Radio podcast is totally focused on one audience – the electronic design community. EDA software is computer aided design for electrical engineers. The design of the electronic chips that enable everything from cell phones to game player consoles. Since I’m in that business on the day job, I explain it this way: the second chip costs you a quarter of a cent. The first chip costs a quarter million dollars. You get to decide how lucky you are and if you want to use EDA software tools. OnDesign Radio podcasts is a weekly show every Friday that includes interviews with industry CEOs and other executives from companies like Synopsis and Logic Works. Jon has both undergrad and MBA from Babson College.
John Dupuy along with his buddy Justin host KOPN Tech Radio podcast, John is an entrepreneur and owns/works for both a local Internet service provider and a competitive telephone company – while Justin works at a local university’s journalism school fielding technical problems and help desk issues. They’ve produced over 324 shows on KOPN 89.5FM in Columbia Missouri every Monday at 6PM CST. The show is about half hard news and half opinion with the objective of getting beyond the dry facts and look into the context that makes these stories so interesting.
I hope that you will give these new TPN shows a listen.
