TPN Roundtable, Skype and DOS

The TPN Roundtable from last Saturday is up at Techpodcasts.com . Thanks to Josh from PerlCast.com and Jo from Knightwise.com for being the two primary presenters on this Round Table. I would also like to thank Randal Schwartz for stopping in and talking about Perl and the upcoming YAPC conference in Chicago. Two separate 20 minute presentations on Perl and one 20 minute session on a setting up a 30 machine Mac network in a very limited amount of time at a music show in Belgium.
Thanks to Patrick Boyle for a tip that there is another Skype update – from 2.0 to 2.5 . A quick and painless download, at least on two of the machines.
Some words that Libsyn has been victim of DOS attack at least during a portion of the day – so you may be experiencing some delay in downloads of many of your favorite podcasts. TPN was not left unscathed, with troubles on the 24/7 streaming service upload. During portions of the day, the service was interrupted as well, but the main aggravation for listeners and podcasters was the inability to upload new material to the stream.
Our bittorrent service at DownloadRadio.org continues to grow, through the combined efforts of Peter Yorke and Dwicht Illk. I think that we now have a handle on the mysterious double byte tagging that was confusing the issue for the past few weeks, and hope that as we have that “fixed” we haven’t broken something else for other listeners. Who would have ever thought that the simple id3 tag could cause so much trouble.
