TechPodcasts Today and a Vista Bittorrent Link – 100% Legal
    by Andrew McCaskey

Something new on tap from Techpodcasts – an RSS feed called “Techpodcasts Today” . It’s an RSS feed of the show notes from many of your favorite TPN shows,
including MacReviewCast,BO Radio , from Bwana McCall
Geek News Central with Todd Cochrane
    the Mac Attack Podcast
One Minute Tip with John Chambers
    Antipodeam Podcast
    and the TechNoBabel podcast

I expect that there will be more of our members and affiliates that will begin posting their show notes to the feed – another good resource.

Thanks to Patrick Boyle who has joined Peter Yorke and Dwight Illk in wringing gremlins out of the Bittorrent feed for Slashdot Review at DownloadRadio.org. Long term listeners will realize how important the Bittorrent Feed has been at certain times during the ups and downs of the podcast, and when called upon has scaled by several orders of magnitude literally overnight to pick up the distribution duties when required. There’s a lot of talk about net neutrality, and the potential for squelching the distribution of podcasting – particularly of political speech – if it goes the wrong way. Bittorrent remains an essential technology to insure that there will be a way for independent voices to be heard and distributed – and those hardy souls who work at receiving SDR each day with the bittorrent feed deserve special mention.

Quick note on torrents : This comes from Chris Pirillo and Jake Luddington of Gnomedex fame.

They have set up a site called Vistatorrent.com , which has a full version of the new Windows Vista Beta, and in their words “This is not a crack, this is not a hack, this is not software piracy – it’s unofficial mirroring with official validation. You can get a Windows Vista Beta 2 product key for free through Microsoft, as the OS won’t install without one.”

Back on the road this week, so times will shift a bit, as I will be preparing the podcast late into the night after day job duties at a trade show in San Francisco. I’m going to be taking a better mic on the road this time, so we won’t have a repeat of the problems from earlier in the spring.

Looking forward to the TechPodcast Roundtable this coming Saturday, June 17th at 1:30 Pacific

    Recent Items Mentioned:

Inbox Zero: One of the guideposts along the way will be some articles from the excellent site for personal productivity at 43 Folders , specifically an article entitled “My email diet” in the Inbox Zero – Day 1series.

From the 43Folders Inbox Zero process, I’m learning that these tools are no substitute for ruthless triage of escalating questions:

    1. What does this message mean to me and why do I care ?

    2. What action, if any, does this message require of me ?

    3. What’s the most elegant way to close out this message and the nested action it contains ?

These questions were most valuable getting from 400 to 100 items. After that, the default
Outlook folder “Unread Items” kept the new stuff in one place – just reading headers and sender lines for easy zapping

The free 40 page downloadable e-Book from Rajesh Setty, a fellow Gnomedexer.. “Personal Branding for Technology Professionals”, It’s some heavy reality for anyone in the technology arena – especially the IT field or pure technologists.
