Just a few words of thanks to those who are helping out this week to keep the program running. Of course, major accolades to Annette Thomson in keeping the production and news items flowing. And to Glen Garner for his continued underwriting support.

Glen is one of the earliest supporters of SDR- Like a number of others, he helped launch the program from a financial standpoint, and continues to offer encouragement.

Behind the scenes, Dwight Iilk and Peter Yorke have worked to keep the bittorrent feed working. Peter is the founder of Download Radio.org – and has provided bittorrent and archive distribution of SDR almost since the beginning. In recent months, the bittorrent feed has attracted more listeners – among the most dedicated since most podcatchers do not support bittorrent directly. However, there have been at least two occasions in the history of the program when bittorrent has been the sole distribution means for SDR for a number of days. Each time, the architecture has scaled by two orders of magnitude literally overnight – and provided an alternative. As I have mentioned before, I think that it is very important that non-infringing uses of bittorrent be demonstrated and that track record of a non-demonized bittorrent application be available. My thanks go out to the bittorrent listeners – who have gone the extra mile to keep this portion of the podcast service intact. You can checkout those programs at DownloadRadio.org.

No luck on the microphone front. The work computer is a HP/Compaq nc4000. Nice business hardware, but unfortunately still on Win2000 – so the installation this morning of the drivers for the USB sound dongle for the new mic is not going well. Looks like a trip to home base to test on another laptop or home machine will be required.

Finally, don’t forget to log in to the Nosilla Podcast this week, as Allison Sheridan at Podfeed.com celebrates one year of the Nosillacast – Allison is one of the Techpodcast Network member shows, and was the presenter of the Parallels workstation software for the Mac at our latest Roundtable.
