There are three new items on the agenda this week that I wanted to mention: The first was introduced yesterday The SDR Music Vote Playlist.

I had some suggestions from listeners of additional garageband.com bands and songs are nominated by SDR listeners. The Music Vote playlist is a way for SDR listeners select their top pick for band and song to be played sometime that week. The voting system just went live this weekend, so if you have a moment to stop by the site and click on the link to the Music Vote Page, you will be able to see some of the songs that I’m considering adding to the playlist and have a chance to give the thumbs up or thumbs down.

If you’d like to add garageband artists and songs, please email in the format shown on the site.

This Saturday March 11, the continuing series on the Tech Podcast Roundtable. The event is at 1:30PM Pacific – 4:30 Eastern – and will have content of interests to podcasters and geeks alike. Please register on the link.

Final arrangements are being made, and with luck we will have one of the manufacturers that I was able to interview at CES in January.

After weeks of delay, there is finally the official package of the entire SDR coverage for the CES Convention available in data CD form at the SDR CD Store page.

New listeners may not know that in January of this year, two of us from the Tech Podcast Network – Slashdot Review and Geek News Central – went to the show and produced a series of CES Podcast Special Coverage programs. The result for SDR is a little over 160 Mb of MP3 files – about 4.5 hours of special programs that were produced in addition to the regular daily program. It includes the NextGen Home Tour that was too lengthy for regular airtime use, as well as web page links and some rough time line indexing for the interviews.

I guess the fashionable term for the project is beta edition. We had some rough edges, but a lot of fun seeing the show and learning how to produce in that environment – and hope that it gave listeners a walking tour viewpoint that they did not find elsewhere.

Don’t forget that you can get Slashdotreview by email, with a built in flash player, arriving in your email inbox each day. Just sign up for the free FeedBlitz service on the site. Plus you can then forward that email, and introduce someone new to podcasting to SDR – without having to explain a thing.

The book that I spoke about on 3/2 is called “Amusing Ourselves to Death” .

The preface to the book gives a good idea of the basic premise, and specific comments on television. (Remember, this was in the early 1980′s .. the hundred channel universe was not yet revealed )

A more lengthy summary is found at WikiPedia.
Interactive Touchscreen Demo: a video of a really cool touchscreen interface – about ten times better than the Bill Gates demo at CES. Hard to describe, about three minutes long.

Hope that you will be able to have a look at the Wombat Page at the SDR site The WOM Badge is a new way for bloggers to tag and display a badge of other blogs or podcasts. Ranging in size from the discrete Podcast411 to the Bumper Sticker from Libsyn, they are are kind of fun -and if you have a badge from WordofBlog.net let me know and I’ll be glad to add it.
