More Screen Interface and Misto

.

I again recommend the video on the touch screen interactivity
that I’ve been mentioning for the past few days. Each time that I look at the demo, I see something different and inspiring.

If you really want to engage someone in a conversation, head for your nearest individual under age 30 who is a creative type
- video editor, fine artist, sculptor, composer, or game designer and buttonhole them into viewing the demo and compensating for your own left brain/right brain point of view. So far, it’s been some genuine excitement that is going to make the Vista AeroGlass look pretty tame when it gets here – and raises the ante on the next Apple version for that selfsame creative audience.

Please note also the linkage implied in the last minute or so to audio experience as well as the visual component. That’s why it’s so much fun to ask others to have a look.

Thanks to a pointer from SurferBills blog to some still photos of the HP Misto project. It’s interesting to see how your perception of the functionality and potential of a screen changes mounted horizontally, at an angle say 30 or 45 degrees, and vertically.

Welcome to BluesJulie, Precious-Speed and Ultrashock who’ve signed up for the free email distribution of SDR, available via the sign up box below. On a personal note – we have been blessed with excellent traveling weather – and looks like this is going to be a great weekend for my Dad’s 90th birthday celebration here in VA Saturday 2/25. As I mentioned, you can read his story and blog at topic.blogspot.com

He’s 90 years old this coming Saturday and, to brag a little bit, is arguably the world’s oldest blogger. A writer by trade, (newspaper, radio and advertising) he’s produced more or less 600 words per day every day since age 16. Including World War II . You can find his story and blog at topic.blogspot.com along with his email address amccsr {at} adelphia.net if you’d like to send along some greetings

Don’t forget that you can get Slashdotreview by email, with a built in flash player, arriving in your email inbox each day. Just sign up for the free FeedBlitz service on the site. Plus you can then forward that email, and introduce someone new to podcasting to SDR – without having to explain a thing.

Totally unrelated, but really fun is a site found later in the day: a video of a really cool touchscreen interface – about ten times better than the Bill Gates demo at CES. Hard to describe, about three minutes long.

Hope that you will be able to have a look at the Wombat Page at the SDR site, It was introduced a few days ago. The WOM Badge is a new way for bloggers to tag and display a badge of other blogs or podcasts. Ranging in size from the discrete Podcast411 to the Bumper Sticker from Libsyn, they are are kind of fun -and if you have a badge from WordofBlog.net let me know and I’ll be glad to add it.

Now a really useful guide to Fixing Windows with Knoppix has appeared online,
a reprint of a chapter in the book Hacking Knoppix from Scott Granneman . You might want to plan ahead, print out the chapter and put it alongside a fresh burn of Knoppix STD when you get the call.

I came across Google SMS again today- a way to pull all sorts of useful stuff from Google with the fast SMS from your cellphone.
