Hello and welcome to our newest subscribers on the email FeedBliz service: Ultrashock, Quaternio, Connie at Spotwave and mike at rebellion in the UK.

I can personally attest that there don’t seem to be too many things that have turned out to be simple.
Case in point, the new Series II Tivo just arrived after an extensive search by a hard working manager at our local Best Buy store. Unboxed, and hooked up in parallel with the already paid for Series I box with lifetime service, I had forgotten the pushups necessary to do the initial setup for a Tivo, having spent four years lovin’ the Series I.

Let’s just say that the OBOE – the Out of Box Experience that I would tolerate four years ago is different from what I look for today. Wanting to avoid as much hassle as possible I had determined that the CAT-5 could make it to the TV cabinet and that I wanted to avoid a WEP protected wireless network and just hardwire it in. Unfortunately the USB adapter from Best Buy was, as I painfully found out) not on the TIVO approved list – and was just lucky to find an old MA111 Netgear wireless adapter that it would recognize. The WEP did come up ok, and the firmware updated, but it’s a shame that the 95% positive impression of the package, install and operation got cancelled by the 5% aggravation factor. Now, I’m just waiting for the next firmware upgrade to put podcasting into the couch potato interface, along with Live365 and the rest of the home media package.

I’ve been such a Tivo evangelist that I am sure that all will quickly be forgiven.

Keep an eye on the Techpodcast.com site this coming weekend. The site is about to emerge from a total rebuild, with forums and features that you will enjoy. And, don’t forget that the Techpodcast This Week program Sunday night will give you the highlights from upcoming shows on the Techpodcast Network.

Hope that you will be able to have a look at the Wombat Page at the SDR site, It was introduced yesterday. The WOM Badge is a new way for bloggers to tag and display a badge of other blogs or podcasts. Ranging in size from the discrete Podcast411 to the Bumper Sticker from Libsyn, they are are kind of fun -and if you have a badge from WordofBlog.net let me know and I’ll be glad to add it.
