30 Boxes and Frappr
–by Andrew McCaskey
Word of Blog is now working on the site. Last night’s problems with IE and Firefox seemed to be a lot more solvable in the light of day. It is a graphic badge at the upper right of the page sidebar – and if you’d like to add it to your blog or webpage as a SlashdotReview listener, it would be greatly appreciated.
I’ve just discovered 30boxes.com . Totally non-technical, other than the general subject of Getting Things Done –
From their description:
30 Boxes was created for people looking for a robust yet simple social calendar that is easy to share with family and friends. You can:
* make a calendar
* add family and friends as Buddies
* share all or parts of your calendar with Buddies
* follow your Buddies’ web stuff (like flickr, myspace, webshots, livejournal, heck, any personal blog)
* customize your calendar’s look and feel
* publish some or all of your calendar (put it on your blog)
Since the recent demise of the fiber based kitchen bulletin board and calendar at our home, this looks like a good alternative to keep family activities in sync.
Congrats to Andy Graves in Broussard (LA) who, according to his Frappr page link has paid off his Orange Honda Element. His story includes work offshore, homeless in New Orleans, Burning Man and chaos. And that was just 2005.
Also hello to Erik in Chicago as he walks to work. I don’t know why I assume that everyone is in a vehicle or riding. Co-host Annette Thomson tells me that she can almost sync SDR with the street crossing lights from the Metro to her office.
And finally, from Lancaster, PA, LandinColdfire ponders why the Amish have such good computers. Sounds like the setup line for a joke. . maybe not even suitable for SDR.

Now a really useful guide to Fixing Windows with Knoppix has appeared online, a reprint of a chapter in the book Hacking Knoppix from Scott Granneman . You might want to plan ahead, print out the chapter and put it alongside a fresh burn of Knoppix STD when you get the call.
