There are some exciting things in the works at Techpodcasts.com - and in preparation for some events next week, I got to compile a list that included some of the feed points. In addition to the more obvious feeds at the direct RSS and iTunes, there were separate directory feeds for Yahoo, Odeo, Google’s podcatcher client, and the listing for Podcast Alley the directory and voting site.
It’s interesting that in addition to all of the delivery methods that we cited a few days ago, that there are as many directory and subscription channels as there are delivery methods. I could have added the channel listing at zencast.com the podcast subscription service to that list.
Creativelabs have their own podcatcher the ZENcast Organizer, specially designed by Creative Technology, seamlessly integrates podcasts and video blogs with the Creative ZEN player or a PC.
All of which points to one of the un-intended consequences of the world of podcasting – discovery of new or interesting podcasts from among thousands.
I expect that no matter how many directories come along, that the final and best directory is the recommendation of a friend or acquaintance. That’s why I especially appreciate it when the email subscribers to our free FeedBlitz service are able to forward one of the day’s postings to someone else – and why I’ve just added something new called Word of Blog to the site. It just went up this evening – and for some reason is not working on Firefox but is working on IE. It is the graphic badge at the upper right of the page sidebar.
