Inflatable Concrete and Mobilcast Rebuild
–by Andrew McCaskey
Sometimes a good item just does not make it’s way to Slashdot. That’s the case with an item on Inflatable Concrete, from a design firm in the UK. The idea is to replace tenting -specifically in refugee situations – with a premix concrete that arrives on site in a large as in eight man lift large plastic bag. Add water – no need to stir, then pull the ripcord and the structure inflates with a slurry of concrete and fiberglass on the surface of a quonset hut like canvas structure, now held up by the inflated plastic bag – Allow it to dry for 12 hours and the concrete coated canvas hardens into a structure for shelter, field hospital , clinic or headquarters use. More details at http://www.concretecanvas.org.uk/

I have been a bit neglectful about checking the Melodeo Mobilcast site the past few weeks. As you recall, Melodeo Mobilcast is a distribution network for podcasts through your All sorts of changes and additions: First a blog concerning the MobilCast service with up to date news, , second a redesign of the site by carrier then phone to make things easy, at least for Cingular and T Mobile and finally some details on the keyword search system that makes it easier to select the podcast that you seek from the phone with a minimal number of characters keyed in.

What’s missing is the cool Flash demo that used to be linked from the site at SlashdotReview. I will have to take a look and see where it went.

Tomorrow is the SIM chip transplant: The replacement Motorola RAZR arrived today – but I had to take some time to copy off those phone numbers and names because I can’t remember which ones are on the SIM card and which ones are on the phone. It will be interesting to see how it goes.
