Dave W and Mark Johnson in New Zealand, and Stuka in Charlotte NC, plus mhallBoces in South Glen Falls, NY are among those sharing a bit of their life or philosophy on the Frappr page. Thanks to all.
I might direct your attention to an interesting post in the forums at our distribution partner, Melodeo Mobilcast. If you remember, this is a way to discover and listen to podcasts on selected cellphones from Motorola, Sony-Ericsson, and Nokia. I had a general idea of how the process worked, but there’s an interesting section that I missed from a few weeks ago. The item their forums that provides some more detail and a system level diagram on how podcast episodes (MP3 and RSS files submitted to Melodeo) are made availble to users of the Mobilcast application. I have the diagram on the site at SDR, and also links to the forum.
If you have a Motorola Razr phone the easiest way to get the Mobilcast program on your phone is to go to their site, and send yourself an SMS. You run the link in the resultant message, and you are ready to go. Give it a try – I think you will be pleasantly supprised how easy it is.
Thanks to Allen Clark, who you will find on the Frappr map in Beijing, China. He offered up some excellent comments on my continuing battle with audio levels, compression, dynamic range and all the other gremlins that creep in un-announced. As I replied to him, I do have some major upgrades in store that should make listening a lot more tolerable – which I hope to roll out in the next few weeks. A lot of it concerns the compression and flattopping on some of the garageband material, over which I have little control – and the rest on things that I should be able to take care of. Anyway, comments appreciated, as always: Slashdotreview at gmail.com

A new addition to the site at SDR.com , an array of MobilCast Qualified handsets. The engineers at Melodeo run handsets through the mill and qualify them for the MobilCast service. The list changes every few days, as Sony Ericsson and Nokia enhance and obsolete various model numbers. I’ll try to keep it up to date.
