Frappr note to Kim Bridges in Honolulu, who enjoys SDR while riding on his Segway. I am looking forward to an extended Segway afternoon tour next summer in the Washington DC area. I had my first Segway ride in Long Beach last summer, some after hours entertainment at a trade show, basically the length of the bar. Not much use for them here, all that garage space being taken up by the snowblower.
Thanks to Jay Madlangbayan in Pensacola for another large photo in the Frappr collection, and hello to Pat, Harmen, Mad Mary, and Shakademus for their Frappr pins.
It’s been several days since I have mentioned the Flash Demo of Melodeo Mobilcast on the site at Slashdot Review. Melodeo Mobilcast provides daily download of Slashdot Review, scores of other podcasts, and major media content such as NPR and CNN through a growing number of cellphones. The Motorola Razr, phones from Sony Ericsson and Nokia, and a number of carriers, including Verizon and Cingular are supported. The flash demo provides a quick way to see what’s in store. I think that the mobile platform has a great future for what we call podcasting – but is in fact more than audio delivery to a specific music player device. It’s the whole family : iPaqs, cellphones, mp3 players, Apple iPods, emails, PC downloads, PC streaming and who knows what else.
That’s what makes it something to look forward to.
Recent Links and Announcements:
A new addition to the site at SDR.com , an array of MobilCast Qualified handsets. The engineers at Melodeo run handsets through the mill and qualify them for the MobilCast service. The list changes every few days, as Sony Ericsson and Nokia enhance and obsolete various model numbers. I’ll try to keep it up to date.
Thanks to Pete Murry of Laporte PA for a video clip that he posted as his photo on the Frappr page. Right next to Rob’s dignified photo. If you are a fan of the TV show NCIS, this is a DiNozo moment from the animal world. It is worth the trip to the page, watch the penguin carefully.
About a year ago I found a great WGBH Boston TV program that I have linked before about the music business called “The Way the Music Died” If you want to really understand why indy music is a part of SDR, take time to stream the program on the site.
Steve Holden, always on the alert, has forwarded a link for a snow blower that should be featured on an entire episode of Home Improvement. Binford Manufacturing would love this one: Bona Fide designed from the ground up around a big block Chevy V-8 : The manufacturer’s quote “.you¹ll never get bored with the job as the 454 cubic inch big block Chevrolet V8 produces 412 horsepower, 430 foot pounds of torque and can throw snow 50 feet at just 3500 rpm . Plus heated grips and turns on a dime. Links and a photo on the site for those interested. Still can’t figure out how a podcaster in San Diego has such in depth knowledge..
