Our Friends at Friends in Tech have done it gain. The Halloween “Server Room of Horrors” has been replaced by none other than the A Geek Christmas Carol. With his old friend Steve Marley and 3 ghosts of Tech Christmas past in tow, Scrooge is confronted with the decisions he is making and the life that he has had before… Outsourcing moral decisions only the start of the dilemma .

Written by: Kreg Steppe, Douglas Welch and George Starcher
Lots of familiar names and talent Douglas Welch,Victor Cajiao,Kreg Steppe, Kevin Devin, Chuck Tomasi, Steve Holden – With Special Guests:
Davis Scrooge: Dave Slusher from Evil Genius Chronicles
Dr Floyd and Dr Steve: from The Radio Adventures of Dr. Floyd
Scrooge Dad: Jimmy Jett from the Podcast about Nothing

Over at the Typical PC User Podcast, Victor Caijo features something that every geek will be interested in : An interview with The Harvard Lecture series on Computer Science E-1 with the promise that “wherever you go, and you too shall understand computers and the Internet!” In fact, you may have seen E-1 in the news. Not only are Computer Science E-1′s lectures available in high-resolution RealVideo and RealAudio formats for registered students, the course’s first several lectures are also available to the world as a Podcast in video and audio-only formats!

The podcast student body ranges in age from sixteen to over 70.

Victor conducts a successful Skype interview, no mean accomplishment in the world of podcasting itself..

Highly recommended and linked on SDR.com .

Apologies to all on the audio quality on the podcast tonight. The idea was that a new microphone, a new laptop and a new version of Audacity would all work together to improve the quality of the podcast – but for reasons that I am not understanding, it looks like I have violated a primary rule and changed more than one thing at once. Add in family holiday obligations and I am afraid that there is a real mess. The bittorrent feed should be restored tonight. No problem at all at Download Radio – I had assumed that the Listgarden Database file was all that is required but that turns out to not be the case – the DB items came over , but not all the attributes – so it was essentially worthless. I got things re-typed tonight, but then the encode step in audacity went a bit over the edge and that has soaked up the time. Thank goodness for a Holiday Inn Express that are allowing me to hit their wifi for upload. At one point earlier today I was reduced to thumb drives off of a dial up Win98 machine.

Tomorrow we will be in the DC area and life should be much better from a connectivity standpoint !

    Recent Links and Announcements:

A new addition to the site at SDR.com , an array of MobilCast Qualified handsets. The engineers at Melodeo run handsets through the mill and qualify them for the MobilCast service. The list changes every few days, as Sony Ericsson and Nokia enhance and obsolete various model numbers. I’ll try to keep it up to date.

Thanks to Pete Murry of Laporte PA for a video clip that he posted as his photo on the Frappr page. Right next to Rob’s dignified photo. If you are a fan of the TV show NCIS, this is a DiNozo moment from the animal world. It is worth the trip to the page, watch the penguin carefully.

About a year ago I found a great WGBH Boston TV program that I have linked before about the music business called “The Way the Music Died” If you want to really understand why indy music is a part of SDR, take time to stream the program on the site.
