Thanks to Jason for his comments at Podcast Review Daily. Your points are well taken – and I will try to add more variety in the commercial announcements, to the comfort of regular listeners. Some of that is contractual, some time pressure, and some I have to admit, is directly traceable to a lazy host.
Thanks to those of you who are taking time to fill out the new Podcast Survey on the site at SDR.com. Both veteran and new listeners are welcome. As I have said before, this survey is really, really important in determining steps to be made in the new year. If you haven’t taken the time yet, please visit the site and go through the questions.
Something new courtesy of Mike Wills and his Technology blog :
Apparently those of you lucky enough to own Series II TIVO now can receive podcasts, and if I am reading Mike’s blog correctly the implication is that SDR is a choice that is pre-programmed into the system. If some of the SDR listeners can check it out and drop me an email to confirm, that would be great. The ancient iron here is the original Series I – Phillips, 14 hour – but that lifetime membership has paid off. However, Mike indicates that if a podcast is not in the directory, it is a royal pain, chugging with the remote to directly enter the full RSS feed. If we were lucky to be listed, that’s great- but I sure hope that newer podcasts – are there are some fine ones coming out each day – could also be easily entered, maybe through a directory listing.
It made it on the page yesterday but not enough time for the podcast:
Listener Rob Goshko has some wisdom on his Frappr link “It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shaking, the shaking becomes a warning. It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion.” — The Mentat Programming Mantra
Please take our Survey (at the upper right of this page). This is a critical part of the future of Slashdot Review. Thanks !
Recent Links and Announcements:
A new addition to the site at SDR.com , an array of MobilCast Qualified handsets. The engineers at Melodeo run handsets through the mill and qualify them for the MobilCast service. The list changes every few days, as Sony Ericsson and Nokia enhance and obsolete various model numbers. I’ll try to keep it up to date.

Thanks to Pete Murry of Laporte PA for a video clip that he posted as his photo on the Frappr page. Right next to Rob’s dignified photo. If you are a fan of the TV show NCIS, this is a DiNozo moment from the animal world. It is worth the trip to the page, watch the penguin carefully.
About a year ago I found a great WGBH Boston TV program that I have linked before about the music business called “The Way the Music Died” If you want to really understand why indy music is a part of SDR, take time to stream the program on the site.
