You’re going to hear me say this in my podcast for the next couple months: We’re taking a survey of our listeners, and we’d like you to participate. It will help us learn more about you – - no matter how long you’ve been a listener or how frequently you listen to Slashdot Review. So please take a few minutes and complete the listener survey link right on the home page. Thanks!”
This week on two more Techpodcast Network shows: In the upcoming installment of WebDevRadio, host Michael Kimsal will review a technique to optimize your HTML with javascript, and will present a project overview from listener Brian Grayless on his new Ajax toolkit – phatJax.
The MacReviewCast looks at Software, Hardware and Websites that make using a Mac special. This week we look at several freeware programs and updates to some of our favorite shareware. We also look at a security system with wireless external video made specifically for the Mac. MacReviewCast is also linked on SDR.
This Saturday December 3rd is the Live Event for the Home Network Help Podcast Live Event with Christiaan Stout on December 3rd at 11:00 am PST. He will be covering MythTV building, setup, and configuration. Links to the signup on the site.
Melodeo Mobilcast added two new phones this week the Sony Ericsson w800 and w900. These are just some of the new mobile phone handsets that can receive SDR and content such as NPR, CNN, and a growing number of podcasts directly, without a subscription. I’ll get them added to the page at SDR where we keep the list of phones that can receive podcasts. Mobilcast uses progressive download so the podcast you select starts playing in about 15 seconds. There is a demo at SlashdotReview that will give you a 45 second class, and make you an expert, even if you don’t have a new phone .Yet. It is VERY cool.
Some other TechPodcasts of note: Tech Help Weekly begins a new 3-part series on the Asterisk PBX. They will show you how to build a full-featured phone system for your home or small business for less than $200. The Tech Help Weekly podcast at .

I am learning more that I ever wanted to know about the load sharing capabilities of the new Xincom dual WAN router – that is supposed to combine the Verizon and Comcast feeds at home into something faster and more reliable. The box is slowly being tamed. The VPN for the day job is working fine, now that the appropriate ports are opened up.
Only thing vexing is slow connects and timeouts on FTP using Filezilla.
Don’t forget to sign up for the Home Network Help Podcast Live Event with Christiaan Stout on December 3rd at 11:00 am PST. He will be covering MythTV building, setup, and configuration.

A new addition to the site at SDR.com , an array of MobilCast Qualified handsets. The engineers at Melodeo run handsets through the mill and qualify them for the MobilCast service. The list changes every few days, as Sony Ericsson and Nokia enhance and obsolete various model numbers. I’ll try to keep it up to date.
